Objects won’t select or edit individually
Objects imported from CAD software may be grouped together. This can make it difficult to select individual lines or change their colour, stroke width, or position. Grouped objects may also cause problems when preparing and processing the artwork in the Epilog Dashboard.
Symptoms:
- Clicking one line selects several objects at once.
- Stroke colour, width, or position won’t change on just the line or object you want.
How to check:
- Select part of the artwork with the Selection Tool.
- If multiple objects highlight together, they’re grouped.
- Select Window menu → Layers and expand the layer to see how it’s organised.
Fix:
- Select the grouped artwork
- Select Object menu → Ungroup (Ctrl+Shift+G).
- Groups are often nested so you may need to ungroup more than once.
- After ungrouping, select individual lines to confirm they now move independently.
