COSHH – Ambersil – Tufcut Metal Cutting Compound

This cutting compound provides lubrication for drilling and other cutting operations. Use sparingly, a little goes a long way.

Pay particular attention to the hazards and PPE requirements listed below as this material may cause hard to breastfed babies.

Safety Glasses

You must wear safety glasses when working with this cutting lubricant.

Gloves may be required

You should wear nitrile gloves when working with this cutting lubricant except when working around rotating machinery. Use application tools such as a brush and wash your hands when you have finished work.

Hazards

May cause harm to breastfed babies

Pregnant and breast-feeding women must not use this cutting lubricant. Ask a technician to find an alternative.

Keep out of reach of children

A general hazard is present. Follow site-specific safety instructions and signage.

Very toxic to aquatic organisms

May cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. Prevent release into the environment.

Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness and cracking

Reduce exposure by using application tools such as a small brush. Wear gloves when safe to do so and wash your hands with soap and water after use.

Use in a well ventilated area

May produce smoke during cutting.

Usage Information

• Use a small acid/flux brush to apply to the work area and the cutting tool. You don’t need an excessive amount – large globs will fly off and go everywhere.
• Re-apply regularly during drilling operations to maintain effectiveness.
• Once you have finished remove the bulk of the remaining lubricant with a paper towel, and degrease as required.
