COSHH - Dimafix - Dimafix Spray

From Make In Salford

DimaFix is used to provide an effective thin adhesive layer on the build plates used in our 3D printers. It works by being more sticky at high temperatures (around the 60 degrees the build plates are usually at) and becoming less sticky to release prints as it cools.

Students aren't expected to use this spray to recoat build plates. If you think a build plate needs a new coat of DimaFix please ask a member of Technical Staff.

Usage Information

  • Do not spray this material directly into a 3D printer - it will ruin the bearing surfaces. Remove the build plate, then spray it in the ventilated extraction area.
  • Make sure the build plate you are coating is clean and dry before spraying. Wash it well with soap and water, rinse with clean water, then dry thoroughly before using the Dimafix.
  • Use the vented extraction area when coating build plates.
  • A thin, even coat of Dimafix works best. You do not need a lot for it to work effectively. A finished build plate should be even with no runs or drip marks. Try spraying a coat from one direction, then rotating the build plate 90 degrees to try again.
