Turning on the CMM

  • If necessary, clean the air bearing area of the granite surface plate with surface plate cleaner. Use a clean paper towel. Make sure that the bearing area is clean and dry before continuing.
  • Turn on the compressed air valve (CMM AIR) on the wall.
  • Turn on the rotary isolator (CMM MACHINE POWER) on the back of the black control cabinet.
  • Turn on the controller PC. Log in to the PC.
  • Open CMM Manager from the desktop of the PC.
    Note: The software can ask for a username and a company. These fields are usually filled in advance.
    Username: User
    Company: Salford Uni
  • When the window “The machine is going to perform a homing operation” opens, click OK.
  • When the PC gives the prompt, press the MASTER START button on the pendant of the machine.
  • If necessary, jog the probe head manually to a safe location. To do this, press the JOG ENABLE button on the pendant. Then use the joystick to move the probe head.
  • When the probe head is in a safe location, press the ENTER button.
    Note: The machine moves by itself to the top-back-left corner of the machine to complete the homing operation.
