SSW - 3-in-1 Metalworker (Bending)
Personal Protective Equipment
Safety Glasses You must wear safety glasses when using the arbor press to protect against shattering or ejected parts. |
Work Gloves Wear work gloves when working with sheet metal. Edges and corners can be sharp, even when deburred. |
Specific risks you should be aware of
Pinch Hazard Be aware of the lever arm. If the arm is in the "upright" position make sure the locking screw is secured properly. Do not work underneath the lever arm in case it drops on you. |
Sharp Edges Sheet material can have sharp edges, which may cause cuts. Carefully deburr your parts before you start, and wear work gloves. |
Material will move during bending During the bending process the material will fold upwards. Keep clear of the material during bending operations. |
Dynamic Risk Assessment
Working on this equipment requires a dynamic risk assessment. You should consider, and have an answer for, the following before starting work:
- What are you working on.
- What are you expecting to happen?
- How could this process go wrong, and how bad would that be?
- How will you mitigate the risk of a bad outcome?
- Are other people in danger?
If you cannot mitigate the risks effectively ask a member of technical staff for help before starting work.
