Turning the Machine On

  • Turn on the rotary isolator near the office window marked ROUTER.
  • Turn on the air supply to the machine, located next to the rotary isolators, marked ROUTER AIR.
  • Check the air pressure dial on the regulator at the machine, it should read between 100 and 120 psi.
  • Check that all of the machine emergency stop switches are released and that the bed is clear of debris.
  • Ensure the rails are clean and clear of debris so that nothing will collide when the machine moves under its own power. Use the hoover to clear out dust and chips if needed.
  • If there is a USB stick in the USB socket, remove it and place it on top of the machine electrical cabinet.
  • On the machine electrical cabinet turn the power handle to the ON position, then press the ON button adjacent.
  • Wait until the machine has booted up, then turn the SAFETY RESET key switch to the right.
  • On the hand console the display will read SEEK G54 ORIGIN.
  • Press OK. The machine will now move towards it's origin point.
  • If the yellow safety pads are tripped while the machine is homing, follow the recovery instructions below.
  • Once the machine has found its end stops it the hand console display will read WARM UP SPINDLES.
  • If this is the first time the machine has been turned on today you must press YES. This will run the spindle warmup cycle which takes approximately 6 minutes.

Warming Up the Spindle

It is important to warm up the spindle so that the bearings are protected from damage. The bearings run at very high speeds during operation and must be gently brought up to temperature.

This warmup operation usually takes place during the initial startup procedure but can be run at any time. It must be run at least once a day when the machine is in use. If you've left the machine sitting idle for a long time (more than 2-3 hours) it's a good idea to run the warmup cycle again - it only takes around 6 minutes.

  • If there is a tool in the spindle, remove it.
  • Type F 39 then press OK to warm up the spindle.

Recovering From a Failed Machine Homing Procedure

If the yellow pressure pads are triggered on during the homing procedure the machine will alarm out and stop the warm-up process.

  • Press OK to clear the error, and the machine will continue to start up.
  • When the hand console asks to warm up the spindle press NO.
  • Turn the SAFETY RESET key switch to the right then press the HOME button on the hand console.
  • Type F 39 then press OK to warm up the spindle.

Turning the Machine Off

You must follow these steps to leave the machine in a safe, usable state.

  • If there is a tool in the spindle, remove it.
  • Clean the machine thoroughly, and remove any leftover material from the bed. Use the hoover to vacuum chips from the linear rails, the gear racks, inside the tool changer, etc.
  • Hoover
  • Unplug the USB stick from the socket and place it on top of the machine electrical cabinet.
  • Press the Power Off button on the front of the machine electrical cabinet.
  • Turn the power switch to the OFF position.
  • Turn off the air supply to the machine, labelled ROUTER AIR.
  • Turn off the rotary isolator labelled ROUTER on the wall near the office window.
