The CMM is quite a complicated machine to program and use - to help demonstrate it's use there are a couple of demo programs that work with demo parts ready to run. You only need to place the part roughly in the correct place on the surface plate and run the program.

Demo Training Part

  • On the PC, open the file 321ALIGNFIRST-demo-training-part.cmp from the desktop in CMM Manager.
  • Place the training part onto the fixture with point 6 on the left, points 4 & 5 at the back and 1, 2 & 3 on the top.
  • Switch to RUN MODE by clicking the blue running man in the top left of the window.
  • Choose BATCH from the RUN toolbar.
  • Set up the batch window as follows then click OK.
    • Number of parts: 10
    • Check “Execute partial runs after initial run is finished”
    • Start dropdown box: 005, Add Move
    • Check “Prompt for Customer Data before batch executes”
    • In the Part Layout section select “Single Part Location”
  • In the serial number entry window check “Apply same value to the next x program runs”
The inspection program will now begin, starting with a 321 alignment routine.
  • Probe the training part at the points marked, in the order they are numbered (1-6).
Press the JOG ENABLE button on the pendant and use the joystick to move the probe.
Approach measurement point normal to the surface it is on – moving down in Z for points on the top surfaces, for example. Lock the axes you aren’t using using the AXIS LOCK buttons on the pendant if required.
  • Move the stylus well clear of the part.
  • Turn the SPEED CONTROL DIAL fully counter clockwise.
  • On the PC DCC Mode will be flashing on the screen.
  • Click the joystick icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  • The program will now be running in automatic mode. Slowly turn the speed control dial clockwise until the probe starts moving. Check the validity of the first program run before leaving it running unattended.
