This laser cutter has a fibre laser instead of a CO2 tube. It allows the marking and engraving of metals.
Connecting to the laser
It's best to use the PC next to the Fusion Edge. The laser cutter connects to the university network, so you should be able to use any of the Maker Space PCs to send cut jobs.
The first time you log on and use the laser cutter you may need to add the machine to the configuration. Unfortunately the automatic recognition of the machine over the network does not work with this machine so you will have to configure it manually.
Follow the instructions here, or on the instruction sheet near the laser cutter.
- Open Epilog Job Manager from the Start Menu or the Desktop.
- A screen which says you need to add a new laser system appears. Select Add Laser System.
- Select Fusion Pro then Fusion Pro 32 as the laser model.
- The laser has no CO2 laser tube installed and the fibre laser is 30 watts.
- The IP address is 146.87.67.50
- Give the machine the name Fusion Edge Fibre Laser.
