The Formlabs uses a laser to sinter finely ground nylon powder into solid parts. The un-sintered power supports the parts as they are printing so you don't need to include support material.

Printing files

This is the only machine in the Maker Space that you will not typically use directly. To ensure material is not wasted we need to have a packing density of typically 30% - this means that we will batch various jobs together and print them all at the same time.

Print runs normally take place on Wednesday and Friday evenings, subject to enough parts being printed. To submit a part for printing send the STL file and an explanatory email to makerspace@salford.ac.uk.

Once the parts are added to a print run you'll be informed when they can be picked up - you will need to clean them of unsintered powder before you can take them away!
