Spindle Speed (Axminster AT540PD)
When using the pillar drill it's important to set the spindle speed appropriately for the material you are working with, and the size of the bit.
Generally speaking, the smaller the drill bit the faster the spindle should be turning. Larger bits need slower spindle speeds. If possible, perform a test with a sample piece of material to determine the best drill speed for your application.
Refer to the Recommended Drill Speed table below for a good starting point.
Safety
- Turn off the machine at the wall socket before opening the top cover.
- Ensure the spindle and motor have stopped turning before opening the top cover.
